I've done various styles, from long to pixie cuts to near-shaved to mohawks. I've dyed it tons of different colors, both natural and wild. I've let it be completely natural (thin, uberstraight, limp, medium brown) and I've fussed with it extensively. I take good care of my hair, and so I'm not afraid to do more. Dyeing is one of the most fun aspects of hair style, and it's one of the things people notice about others.
I've been doing this so many years that I don't always follow the instructions of the commercial dyes and lighteners exactly. A person should until they know their hair and the products well. ;) Cuz otherwise, you could end up with straw hair or an obscene color you definitely weren't going for. Note: On this page, "Manic Panic" will refer to various brands of semi-permanent hair color creams and gels commonly used by punks, goths, etc. They come in a variety of wild colors (blues, reds, greens, etc.) and are all fairly similar. These include Punky Color, LaRiche, and Special Effects. I have used several of these brands but am most familiar with Manic Panic.

I thought I could make this site a bit more interesting (and egocentric) by adding a few examples with pics of my various hairstyles. I'm not that keen on having my picture taken, though, and there simply weren't any. So I took some!
March 21, 2002 -- Flaming
For this particular look, I started by bleaching the top. I wanted to leave the bottom brown, so I bleached the crown, including my bangs, using Clairol Ultra Blue. I went down a little farther in the back than on the sides, to follow the hairline. I left the bleach on about 45 minutes, and then washed it out (using shampoo).
Next, I applied, to the bleached part only, Clairol Extreme FX "Smouldering Orange". It's a semi-permanent color, claiming to wash out in approximately 24 washings. I'd never used this particular type of color before, so we'll see how it lasts. It didn't give such a "conditioned" feeling as Manic Panic.
I applied it blotchily rather than going for full coverage of the bleached part. I wanted various colors to show, including yellows and light oranges.
I have some of the Smouldering Orange left over, and because it's not a mixed type of chemical color, I think I can use it to touch the color up later. I am also considering getting some Manic Panic in a dark red and adding to the "flamey" look I achieved.
Here I am in my pajamas (I have great fashion sense, ne? Bleh!) with my dog Isis. My hair is spiked up a little bit.
This rinse will not ruin your highlights but instead will make your brown color deeper and more vibrant. Do not use a coffeemaker to prepare the rinse, as the concentration of coffee won’t be strong enough.
Ingredients:
* 2 cups purified water (do not use mineral water)
* 5 tablespoons dark roast ground coffee
* 1 ounce black chocolate
Method:
* 1. Boil the ground coffee in two cups of water in a shallow pan for 10 minutes.
* 2. Add the chocolate while the coffee is hot. Let the mixture cool and carefully soak your hair with the flavorful blend. Beware of the spills!
* 3. Cover with a non-PVC plastic shower cap, wait for 10 minutes, rinse off, and shampoo as usual.
How to Straighten Your Hair

Before you start the process of making your hair straight you have to purchase a quality flat iron.
If you have very long hair you can opt for the wider paddle flat iron but remember that thinner flat irons will provide you with more flexibility and it will work both on long and short hair styles.

It can only be controlled or minimized.
Best Methods to Grow Long Hair
There are lots of methods to follow in growing long hair. Some of them are as follows
Shampooing
When shampooing, wet your hair by putting your head under the stream of water and work the water into the hair with straight downward strokes. Pour the shampoo into the palm of your hand, not onto your head, and begin working it into the ends of your hair, moving up toward the crown of your head. Do not scrub at your hair or bunch it up on the top of your head.
When you are ready to rinse, put your head under the stream of water and work the shampoo out of your hair with straight, downward motions of your hands. Keep the hair straight and untangled at all times. (Always make sure you have no tangles in your hair before you get into the shower to shampoo.)
Follow the same downward techniques when gently drying your hair with a towel. Wet hair is very fragile. Pat or squeeze your hair dry with an absorbent towel and then allow the hair to air dry. Avoid wrapping your wet hair in the towel or pushing it up in a turban. Let it hang drown as it dries, perhaps sitting in front of a gentle heat or air source. (Always be aware of where your hair is and never allow it to wander into a heater or fan. Longer hair requires you to be more attentive to your surroundings for your own safety sake.)

Wash your hair with one of the following rinses. Pour the selected rinse through your hair 15 times, re-rinsing with the same liquid. On the final rinse, wring hair, and leave for 15 minutes before rinsing with clear water.
Blonde: Mix 1 tablespoon lemon juice in 1 gallon warm water.
Blonde Highlights
Ingredients:
* 1 cup lemon juice
* 3 cups chamomile tea (brewed, & cooled)
Directions:
Mix ingredients, pour over damp hair then let sit for an hour while you sit in the sun, wash out. Follow with a good conditioner.
NOTE: This process must be repeated daily for a few weeks before you notice any changes.

1. Avoid shampoos that contain sodium laurel sulfate, or sodium laureth sulfate. These chemicals are synthetic detergents that are used in dishwashing liquid and other cleansers. They are valued because they lather well, but they are very harsh, and can dry out your hair. Instead, look for shampoos made with decyl glucose, or decyl glucoside, which are much gentler.
2. Give yourself a hot oil treatment to deep condition your hair. Warm oil penetrates the hair shaft making the hair more flexible and giving it shine. This can also help to prevent split ends which result from dry hair.
3. Eat right and consider taking vitamin and mineral supplements
to encourage healthy hair. Several vitamins and minerals have been shown to help hair growth and condition including biotin, vitamin E, vitamin B, vitamin C and MSM.
